« Quand est-on confiné ? Ou est-on confiné ? Quelles sont nos prisons ? Le créateur ne serait-il pas un confiné permanent avec un désir de l’ailleurs infini où qu’il soit et à n’importe qu’elle époque de sa vie. »
Arnaud NANO Méthivier et Pierre-Marie PEM Braye-Weppe, curateurs de l’espace culturel salle Agora-Off
« I made « Mass for Shut-ins » in quarantine during the pandemic in March through April, 2020. It is a handpainted film (Direct cinema); 16mm film abstraction, made by hand in my kitchen sink. An embrace of color, light, the age of Enlightenment. Reason, Love, Joy in the face of Death. A celebration of Life.
The bells are fond memories of Amsterdam and Paris, as I dream of being away from the United States; away from the prison of the quarantine and being a prisoner of the conservative political party here. It is a frightening time to live in the prison that is the USA. Many here refuse to wear masks; they deny science while the embrace fascism.
