J33 – Barbara Sepp

The world is an opera that is constantly played, with its dramaturgy, its characters, its decorations, its music, its movement, its images, its intensities The Covid-19 is a new opera attributed to Pangolin, created at the Wuhan market in China in 2020. This opera was very quickly a worldwide success, temporarily putting the opera « Sport » in the archives of the past.

Opera is for me the most complete form for transmitting emotions in live performance. This is also the case for the Confined Arts. Indeed, this very popular form around the world requires the fusion skills of most artistic professions. (Set designer, set designer, costume designer, director, composer, author, singer, musician, actor, dancer, conductor, videographer, etc.) There is also the need for technical skills without which this form cannot exist. But even more, the opera chosen in the first place, the composer’s point of view to tell, intrigue, controversy, enchant.

Barbara Sepp, here, becomes composer of a confined opera, based on an existing music (Stabat Mater) whose Hero is the hand of human.

Le monde est un opéra qui se joue en permanence, avec sa dramaturgie, ses personnages, ses décors, sa musique, son mouvement, ses images, ses intensités Le Covid-19 est un nouvel Opéra attribué à Pangolin, créé au marché de Wuhan en Chine en 2020. Cet opéra a eu très rapidement, un succès mondial, mettant provisoirement l’opéra « Sport » dans les archives du passé. L’opéra est pour moi la forme la plus complète pour transmettre des émotions dans le spectacle vivant. C’est également le cas pour les Arts confinés. En effet, cette forme très populaire à travers le monde nécessite les compétences fusionnelles de la plupart des métiers artistiques. (Scénographe, décorateur, costumier, metteur en scène, compositeur, auteur, chanteur, musicien, comédien, danseur, chef d’orchestre, vidéaste, etc.) Il s’y ajoute le besoin des compétences techniques sans laquelle cette forme ne peut exister. Mais plus encore, l’opéra choisi en premier lieu, le point de vue du compositeur pour raconter, intriguer, polémiquer, enchanter. Barbara Sepp, ici, devient compositrice d’un opéra confiné, basé sur une musique (Stabat Mater) existante dont le Héro est la main de l’homme.
